SnoozeShade and sun safety

Earlier this week on Facebook we reminded people of a post we wrote some months ago on the stories that were circulating about sun safety. Articles are once more circulating about the dangers of draping a blanket over baby's pram, which is why we felt it important to remind people of the facts. This is the post we shared: be too alarmed at Swedish Scaremongering . Please read, and be re-assured that your SnoozeShade is perfectly safe to use! There are some tips there for keeping baby cool too. And this week we've put together some more information on SnoozeShade and sun safety. Please read and share and keep your baby safe this summer.

Keep baby as cool as you can

If you cannot stay indoors (or you don't want to- after all, we don't get much summer in the UK!) then you need to try and keep your baby as cool as possible. Keeping them in the shade is one way to do this, and why we recommend the SnoozeShade! Here's a post on how to use your SnoozeShade to get the maximum benefit from it, and how to decide which model is right for you.

How to use your SnoozeShade

And if you're concerned about any other feature of the SnoozeShade, please see this post: Why safety will always be number one at SnoozeShade. We really do take safety very seriously and we're happy to answer any questions you may have.

Keep baby protected from the sun

If your baby is shaded then she is keeping cool, and out of the sun's harmful rays too. But just in case, there are some sun safety tips in this post Why suncare for babies and toddlers is so important and Sun care for babies, .

Make sure that babies under the age of 6 months are not exposed to the sun at all. For older babies use appropriate sun screen from April onwards, even on cloudy days. And don't forget hats!

It's best to avoid the hottest part of the day (midday) anyway, so get inside if you can.

Keep an eye on baby while sleeping

When your baby is sleeping, its easy to forget the time and rush about doing all the things that you can't do while they're awake. And there's nothing wrong with that! But do check regularly on your baby, to make sure that the temperature inside the pram is not too hot. Use your judgement here. The SnoozeShade is fully breathable and safe to use, but even we cannot predict how hot your day is going to be.

Inside, take steps to ensure your baby is not too hot while she sleeps. This post, Baby sleep: staying safe in warm weather,  has lots of safe sleeping advice.

If you are at all concerned about your SnoozeShade or if you have any questions at all please tweet us @SnoozeShade or pop over to our Facebook page to ask away. Alternatively you can email us on
