Why shade matters
NHS guidance recommends keeping babies under 6 months old completely out of direct sunlight. Their ultra-sensitive skin has very little melanin, making them more prone to sunburn and overheating.

What’s the difference in UV protection?
Our black SnoozeShade Originals block 99% of UV (UPF 50+), while the Deluxe version blocks 97.5% (UPF 40+). The difference between the two is considered medically negligible for most babies.
We’re always honest about every detail - so if you prefer a non-black shade, the Deluxe still offers the highest level of UV protection available in a lighter fabric. Unless your baby has a specific medical need for maximum UV blockage, just go with the colour you love.

What about airflow and hot weather?
“Breathable” refers to a fabric's ability to wick moisture which has little to do with airflow. What matters most is air permeability.

On hot days, you can pair it with a portable pram fan – just don’t point it directly at baby. Instead, angle it to gently circulate air around the pram.
