Christmas Sleep Tips: Help Your Baby Rest Through Festive Fun
This is a guest post from Amber at Sleepy Little Cubs - Level 6 Baby and Child Sleep Consultant
The Christmas countdown is on!
From a festive light switch on, visiting Santa’s Grotto to a Christmas light trail…the Christmas season is so special with little ones! However, it can be a little overwhelming and with the busy holidays, sleep schedules and routines can go out the window.
My top 3 sleep tips over the festive period would be:
#1 Try and keep a consistent routine as much as you can. When it is nap time outdoors and you have been to visit a stimulating light display, bring the SnoozeShade pram cover to have some winding down time to help your little one nap without the outside distractions.
#2 Stick to the bedtime routine. After busy and exciting days, give your little one time to wind down before bed. A bath 45 minutes before they are due to sleep helps them relax, lower cortisol levels and means you catch the first sleep wave. Their temperature drops slightly when they come out of the bath making them sleepier for bed.
#3 Take their comforters and favourite toys to family visits! If you are staying with family over the Christmas holidays, bring their favourite comforters (over 12 months for safety reasons) and toys so they feel happy and content to sleep in a new environment.
Have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy all the festivities!
