When do I need SnoozeShade Plus Deluxe?
The key thing on deciding on when it's time to move from SnoozeShade Original to SnoozeShade Plus Deluxe is how is your little one positioned in the pram or stroller?
Once your little one is in the stroller seat and sitting up happily in the pram then they will need our larger sized 6m+ model. It is nearly 3 times the size of the Original to allow for longer legs and an easier fit on larger buggies. It has a viewing window through which baby can enjoy the sights when awake and a 'snooze' panel that can be pulled up quickly to encourage on-the-go naps.
- Better than baby sunglasses! In shade mode, your child can see out of the inner window and is protected from 80% of UV rays, as well as from wind, light rain and pesky insects.
- In snooze mode, a blackout panel safely covers the window to create a comfortingly dark space that boosts melatonin and blurs distractions to encourage sleepy time!
- What's more, with the snooze panel in place your baby is protected from 97.5% of UV while they get the sleep they need.
Made with obsessive attention to safety
SnoozeShade founder Cara invented the very first SnoozeShade for her own precious baby, Holly, so she could get out of the house without worrying that she’d miss a nap.
To say Cara is safety-obsessed is an understatement. That’s why you can count on SnoozeShade not only to transform your little one’s daytime naps, but to keep them safe in more ways than one:
Better than breathable
Unlike a blanket or muslin, our mesh fabric has been scientifically proven to be air permeable – which means air passes through it easily.
There's no danger that your baby's ability to breathe will be affected. We've even had the mesh tested for direct suffocation and CO2 rebreathing, You and your baby are in safe hands.
Our products also match advice from The Lullaby Trust on safer sleep and pram coverings.
Block up to 97.5% of UV
Cara initially designed SnoozeShade with her baby’s sleep in mind. But it turned out that the fabric she so painstakingly invented had another incredible safety benefit: in a double layer it blocks up to 97.5% of the sun’s harmful UV rays, protecting your baby’s delicate skin and eyes while you’re out and about.
No product on earth can replace parental supervision to keep your baby safe.
That's why all SnoozeShade products feature a sneak-a-peek zip, so you can easily check in on your sleeping beauty without letting in too much light which could ruin that much-needed nap.
Safe enough for a newborn
A product like SnoozeShade is only required by law to be safe enough for a 3-year-old, because the product is being used by the parent, not directly by the child.
But that isn't safe enough for Cara
Every SnoozeShade is designed to meet the same safety standards as a toy for a newborn baby. This is the highest standard possible, and our safety features include the following:
- Short straps that pose no risk of strangulation or entrapment
- Strong zips that won't break – even under heavy loads
- Absolutely no toxic nasties in our fabric or any component
- Non-flammable fabric

Nap Time Saver!!!
"Totally love this!
My non-pushchair napping 8 month old actually had a nap in a pushchair. It creates a calm dark space where his all seeing eyes can switch off and calm down.
It has saved me, as I was having to make sure I would have to get him home for his naps, or risk him skipping a nap when out. It just means I can relax more when outside without having to clock watch all the time.
What I also love about the Snooze Shade: - totally breathable - versatile - can be used on loads of pushchairs (he slept in someone else's pushchair too!) - easy to put on and use - keeps people from touching my baby - natural deterrent even when i have it open (not anti social, I just don't like strangers thinking they can smother a baby in a pushchair) - easily folds away when not in use but I keep it on when i fold my pushchair"
You won't be disappointed
"Bought this based on the raving reviews but was doubtful when it arrived as it doesn't seem to block out much light like you would expect of a black out blind for example, which my daughter has in her room if I have any hope of her napping. However, to give it its due, my 1 year old who never naps on the go has happily napped while out and about under this. Definitely worth it and so pleased!"
"We have used this now on many occasions. Offers great sun protection as well as creating a dark environment for sleep. The fact can undo the different layers of this one means it is more versatile and can be used with baby awake and as sun protection only. Have recommended to lots of friends."
"What AMAZING customer service SnoozeShade has directly! They were so understanding, responsive and solved the issue straight away. Not came across a company with this level of customer service before ever I don’t think! We’ve used the product a few times now. My little one (13.5 months, 12 months corrected and still a tiny dot) hates sun in his eyes but will not leave a cap or sunglasses in at all 🙃🤦🏼♀️. This provides amazing shade from all sides while allowing him to see out. Additionally, he never sleeps anywhere. I have an odd one who doesn’t sleep in cars or pushchairs either very well at all 😬. In a pushchair, he is way too nosey. However, as he’s drifting off we can shut it and he actually managed 40mins in the pushchair on a long walk the other day! Really recommend."
Life saver on a holiday!
"This product is AMAZING! I can't imagine doing a holiday with a baby/toddler without it. It's nice and small when it's folded up into the pouch that it comes with. There is a handle on the pouch so we just hung it out of the buggy until we needed it. It was great in the mornings and evenings when the sun was low and would come underneath the hood of the buggy so we used it to help our daughter go to sleep as well as protect her from the sun. It was also brilliant to block out the light and stop our nosey little 8 month old from looking around at everyone and everything that is going on which often stops her from going to sleep. We also used it in the airport for this exact same reason and she went to sleep nice and quick before getting on the plane. The different levels of mesh are brilliant to help you choose whether you want full blackout or just light mesh. The zip opening at the top is great for peaking in on your child to see if they are asleep or awake without completely disturbing them. Definitely a 10/10 for this product! Worth every penny and I wouldn't go away without it now!"
The best shade on the market!
"We have really struggled to find a product that works for us & keeps our little boy safe in the sun. We’ve tried parasols and other shades and none of them have been right at all. A friend recommended the Snoozeshade, so we gave it a go. It’s pretty much perfect! Even putting it over the pram with the front open provides plenty of shade from the sun, and then when our boy needs a nap, it’s a quick zip up and he has a dark, cosy place to sleep, no matter where we are. It’s also really easy to attach to the pram (I’m extremely awkward, and even I managed it first time), and it rolls up really small and pops into the storage bag easily to be stashed back under the pram/in the changing bag or in the car and it doesn’t take up much space at all. I’ll definitely be recommending this to all my mummy friends!"

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here you'll find Cara's answers to some of our most-received questions, but if there's anything else you'd like to know please reach out – we'd be delighted to help.
How does using SnoozeShade help my baby and I?
SnoozeShade is like a portable blackout blind for families on the go, allowing you to get out and about while still maintaining your baby’s sleep routine.
It’s the only baby sunshade of its kind to be endorsed by international baby-sleep experts, be approved by the Melanoma International Foundation, and to have won more than 80 awards – including Mother & Baby Gold for Innovation, Dadsnet Gold and Made for Mums Gold.
Cara says: “Until I invented SnoozeShade, the only option for parents was to throw makeshift items like blankets or muslins over the pushchair. These aren’t always made of air-permeable fabric, don’t provide sun protection and may simply fly off at the slightest breeze. You also have to lift them to check on your baby, letting in light that wakes them up.”
• SnoozeShade becomes a ‘sleep trigger’ for babies – like a bedtime routine or closing the curtains in the nursery. Your baby starts to recognise that when SnoozeShade goes on, it’s time to sleep.
• SnoozeShade removes the external distractions that stop your baby getting to sleep. It creates a cosy, comfortable and healthy nap environment – wherever you are.
• Deeper, longer sleep with no interruptions means your baby gets the sleep they need – and we all know that a well-rested, happy baby means everyone in the family has an easier time!
• Many parents also use SnoozeShade to prevent well-meaning people from touching and disturbing their sleeping baby.
SnoozeShade & safety testing
I invented SnoozeShade to use with my own daughter, which means safety has always been my number one priority.
For me, safety comes first above all else, and I am proud that SnoozeShade is a ‘function over fashion’ product. I won’t compromise on safety and I put SnoozeShade through regular and rigorous safety testing – including tests that aren't compulsory. Head to our blog to find out more.
Why is SnoozeShade a dark colour, doesn't that attract heat?
The colour of a fabric has little to do with how hot it gets, but there are lots of great reasons why our fabric looks the way that it does:
• SnoozeShade is made from air-permeable mesh with lots of small holes that allow fresh air to circulate easily
• SnoozeShade’s fabric has been tested multiple times by well-respected, independent laboratories and scores highly for air permeability
• Darker colours are the best colour for UV protection, as they block the most UV rays. This means our fabric doesn't need any chemical treatment
To find out more about how SnoozeShade’s fabric keeps your baby protected and happy, read this piece, which we wrote with the help of one of the UK’s leading thermal physicists to explain the science behind the 'colour and heat' question.
What is air-permeable fabric?
Our unique fabric is actually better than breathable. It's air permeable.
The term breathability is often used incorrectly. It's actually a term that refers to how well a fabric wicks moisture away from the skin, which is why it's often used to describe sportswear. Air permeability is all about how easily air moves through something.
A fabric that's ‘breathable’ is not necessarily air permeable. For your baby to be safe beneath a sunshade it MUST be made from air-permeable fabric. Avoid cheap copies and buy the safety-tested best.
I'm also proud to say that a new test for suffocation and CO2 rebreathing was developed and our mesh fabric passed both tests with flying colours!
What sun protection does SnoozeShade Plus Deluxe provide?
When it’s time for a buggy nap, convert your SnoozeShade Plus to snooze mode by zipping up the outer panel (an extra layer of air-permeable mesh). This snooze panel covers the inner window to create a sleep-friendly environment that blurs distractions, shuts out 94% of light and blocks 97.5% of UV rays (UPF 40+).
While other sunshades claim to offer high UV protection, many have transparent panels. This won’t offer the same level of sun protection, as UV rays can get in. Remember, if you can clearly see your baby through the fabric, so can the sun!
Our fabric is completely unique to us and has been independently scientifically tested, scoring highly for air permeability, which means air flows freely through it and your little one is completely safe underneath it.
Our clever child-safe zips allow you to check on your baby frequently without letting in too much light or exposing them to the sun.
