Is it safe?! How SnoozeShade goes the extra mile for baby safety
Safety is at the heart of everything we do
At SnoozeShade, safety isn’t a feature—it’s our foundation. Every product is created by a mum who knows how important peace of mind is when it comes to your baby.
A personal message from Cara:
"I created SnoozeShade for my own daughter after she was hospitalised with a febrile convulsion. I was terrified of her overheating. As I developed the idea, I researched baby product safety—and I was shocked.
Most accessories only need to meet safety standards suitable for three-year-olds, based on the assumption that they’re handled by parents. That wasn’t good enough for me.
I wanted SnoozeShade to be safe enough for a newborn to come into direct contact with. So I chose the strictest standards I could find—those designed for toys intended for babies from birth."
What makes SnoozeShade safer?
We don’t cut corners to save money or make things look trendier. Every element is chosen with safety first—because your baby’s wellbeing comes above everything else.
Here’s how we go the extra mile:
– Short straps to minimise strangulation risk
– Heavy-duty zips that won’t break or become choking hazards
– The only certified baby-safe poppers used in this category
– All fabrics and components tested for toxins including lead, phthalates, azo dyes, cadmium, and formaldehyde
– EziBreez™ mesh: highly air-permeable and exceeds airflow safety benchmarks
– Flame-resistant material that self-extinguishes
– Colourfast and stable through repeated washing
Going beyond the basics
In 2021, we voluntarily commissioned testing from a respected US lab to assess:
– CO₂ rebreathing risk (linked to SIDS)
– Direct suffocation risk (if baby’s face was fully covered)
SnoozeShade products achieved the lowest possible risk level in both.
We’re also proud to be the only range of sun and sleep shades in the world approved by INPAA (the Infant & Nursery Products Alliance of Australia), an organisation known for rigorous safety standards.
You’re trusting us - and we take that seriously
We know it’s a big deal to put something over your baby’s pram or travel cot. That’s why we don’t just meet minimum standards—we exceed them. Because we’re parents too.
